I watched Thursday's debate. I thought Gov Palin was wonderful. I did notice that she avoided some of the questions, or answered only the part she wanted to answer.
Senator Biden, on the other hand lied 10-14 times (or was factually wrong), depending on who you listened to after the debate. A big one was you won't pay anymore in taxes that we did under President Reagan. He seems to forget the top rate then was 28% not 39%. I suppose he meant to say Pres Clinton, because 39% was the top rate then. But to people who voted for Reagan and remember the prosperity in the 80's invoking Reagan's name makes people pay attention.
I did decide that few people would change their vote based on this debate, but it did motivate me to get a McCain/Palin sign for my yard.
I'm pleased to say that it has been there for 2 days now and was still there the last time I looked.
When I picked up my sign someone else at the GOP HQ mentioned she needed a replacement sign 'cause hers had gone missing. I guess free speech means tear down the signs of people you don't like.
The house across the street from me has Democrat Party signs, so I hope I don't lose mine. I like having a contrast of the different people running for office.

Oil Prices
It bugs me that Congress complains about an 8% profit for oil companies, yet the federal gov't gets 18+ cents per gallon in taxes. (Texas takes 22 cents per gallon). If gov't would do their job and get out of the way by relaxing regs for new refineries and allowing safe drilling in currently restricted areas, the price of oil would start to lower (and gov't would still get their cut).
For those of you who claim it would take 10 years to do any good - remember that the GOP tried to fix this in 95, and if Pres Clinton hadn't vetoed it we would be seeing the benefit now.
Not doing anything means we get to suffer longer.
